Laurel Park Residence

Laurel Park, North Carolina

Project completed January 2009

Located at the top of Laurel Park and overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, this small sized lot presented a challenge due to setbacks and high incline.
The final design was able to make good use of the space available within the setbacks and fulfilled  the client’s request of a gable shaped roof overlooking the mountains. The solution of two volumes interconnected by a transition space satisfied the program of necessities while taking full advantage of the beautiful view.
The house has many unique features that reflect the European background of the owner: extensive use of clear maple; a German folding door system that allowed for a free 17-foot opening; cantilevered decks with cable railing; sauna.
